Can I trust a Charity Navigator? ›

You can use Charity Navigator to find and support thousands of charities that align with your passions and values. We use data from the IRS, partners, and the charities themselves to power our unbiased ratings so that you can give with confidence.

Some charities allocate 60% of donations to their cause, preserving a large portion of funds to pay staff high salaries, while others allocate 95% of their goods and funds to people in need.

The Salvation Army cannot currently be evaluated by our Impact & Measurement methodology because either (A) it is eligible, but we have not yet received data; (B) we have not yet developed an algorithm to estimate its programmatic impact; (C) its programs are not direct services; or (D) it is not heavily reliant on ...

ALSAC and St. Jude have four-star ratings for accountability and finance from Charity Navigator, America's largest independent evaluator. The rating is based on an assessment of financial efficiency, sustainability and trustworthiness.

WWP has a four-star rating – the highest possible rating – from Charity Navigator. Charity Navigator's rating says, “You can give with confidence.” We are Better Business Bureau (BBB) accredited charity that has met all the organization's standards for accountability.

It provides insights into a nonprofit's financial stability, adherence to best practices for both accountability and transparency, and results reporting. It is the largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities in the United States. It does not accept any advertising or donations from the organizations it evaluates.

Always pay by credit card.

Making donations via credit card offers additional layers of protection versus a debit card, which pays directly from your checking account. Never donate through wire transfer, gift cards, or crypto assets. Requests for these hard-to-trace forms of payment are a hallmark of scammers.
