Our damage-free hair dyes and hair tints are formulated without bleach or chemical lighteners, so they won’t lighten your hair. If your strands are between levels 1 and 6 (this includes black to light brown hair), we recommend bleaching first for vibrant results. Processed, pre-lightened hair will always hold pigment the best, while virgin strands won’t fully absorb it. Because they don’t contain a developer, the base color you start with is crucial to how the color will deposit on your hair. Note that Unicorn Dye should never be mixed with developers, lighteners, or permanent hair colors.
Unlike permanent dyes, these semi-permanent hair colors fade gradually, usually over the course of a few weeks. How Long Does Semi-Permanent Hair Dye Last?
The lifespan of your semi-permanent color depends on a bunch of factors, including whether your hair has been previously processed, how pigmented your shade is, how often you shampoo (and whether you use a sulfate-free formula), and your lifestyle. Hot tip: Avoid heat styling and chlorinated pools if you want to extend the longevity of your new hue.
To keep your semi-permanent hair color looking vibrant for as long as possible, we recommend showering with cool water and washing your hair less frequently (dry shampoo is your friend). What Is Full-Coverage Hair Dye?
