The founder of a women's only weight loss empire has shared a simple recipe for healthy homemade 'Snickers' mousse, which can be made with five basic ingredients in less than five minutes.

Rhian Allen, from Sydney, New South Wales, is the CEO of The Healthy Mummy, an online fitness program which helps mothers to shed unwanted weight with easy exercises, affordable recipes and round the clock support.

Ms Allen showed fans how to whip up a batch of 'Snickers' mousse with healthy alternatives to traditional ingredients, using ricotta cheese instead of double cream and natural maple syrup in place of white caster sugar.

The mousse can be made in less time than it takes to boil an egg and stays fresh in the fridge for up to four days, which means you don't have to enjoy it all at once.

But at just 226 calories per serve - roughly the same as a glass of milk - you can tuck into this treat night after night without a shred of guilt.

Everything you need to make a healthy 'Snickers' mousse

- Onecup reduced-fat ricotta cheese

- Two teaspoons cocoa powder

- One third of a cup of peanut butter

- Two tablespoons of maple syrup

- One tablespoon dark chocolate chips

To make your own, combine one cup of reduced-fat ricotta cheese, two teaspoons of cocoa powder, one third of a cup of peanut butter and two generous tablespoons of maple syrup in a large bowl.

Gently mix the ingredients until they form into a smooth and creamy mousse.

Divide the mousse into small cups or bowls, sprinkling dark chocolate shavings on top for added flavour.

Dark chocolate can also be melted and poured over the mousse if you are serving it immediately.

The mousse can be stored in the fridge for up to four days before it's time to start over and make another batch.

Members of The Healthy Mummy community who tried the recipe at home were delighted by its taste and simplicity.

'So delicious, I made this for the first time yesterday using smooth ricotta and healthy crunchy peanut butter. It's definitely my new favourite go-to dessert!' a Queensland fan said on Facebook.
