Made-up: Snowman nail art

Every year, The Snowman airs on Channel 4 on Christmas Day and every year we cry when he melts at the end.

To keep your tears at bay (and makeup looking sharp), apply this easy snowman look to your nails in seven simple steps and carry your own snowman with you everywhere you go this Christmas.

With a few colours, a little bit of glitter and no hassle, you can have cool, fun nails.

Here’s how to do it.

Step one – prep the nails

Prep your nails by wiping them with a cotton pad and Cutexnail polish remover.

This will rid your nails of natural oils and debris and help the nail polish to last longer.

Step two – apply base coat

Apply a thin base coatto all nails. I use O.P.I’s Natural Nail Base Coat.

Step three – paint your chosen colour

Choose the nail/s that will have the design and paint these first with your chosen colour – I am using a baby blue Barry M colour– before continuing to paint the rest of your nails.

Painting your statement finger/s first allows the polish enough time to dry while painting the rest of your fingers.

Apply another coat to all nails.

Step four – make it glittery

While the polish is still tacky, add a sprinkling of glitter to the nails which will make the background of the snowman sparkly.

To do this, take a small fan brush, dip it in a pot of makeup or nail art glitter and tap the side of the brush to distribute the glitter evenly over each nail.

Step five – creating the snowman

To create the snowman, first draw his body on the first half of the nail in a flattened oval shape before drawing a circle shape for his head using white nail polish like this white Ciate colourI used or this WAH nail art pen.

Using a striping brush dipped in brown nail varnish, draw two small arms on either side of his body and with a dotting tool or nail pen, add small white dots around the snowman to create falling snow.

Step six – painting your snowman’s details

For the snowman’s eyes and buttons, use a black supreme nail art pen like the WAHNailblackart pen.

Drawn the snowman’s carrot nose using the WAH nail art pen in orangebefore creating the scarf by drawing two overlapping lines in two different colours at his neck, adding white stripes and finishing with lines tocomplete the scarf (if you want to).

Step seven – finishing your nails

Using a quick dry top coat, apply to all nails but gently paint the nails with the designs to ensure that the design does not drag.

It will dry within minutes and there you have your little snowman.
