Homemade Papaya Jam

We buy a bunch of fruits every week, by the end of the week. I get to have some overly ripe of fruits lying in the fridge. Last week it was a papaya. We bought a beautiful papaya from the market and somehow totally forgot about it. It was in my fruit basket and when i got a peek into it, it was totally ripe. It was like so ripe, you cannot even peel them. First i thought of making this smoothie. But then i found that we are running out of jams. So decided to make some healthy homemade papaya jam that will last for a week for us..

As usual i don't like to add pectin or preservatives in my jam..I make it with just fruit puree, sugar and a dash of lemon juice. The lemon acts as a preservative and also i don't make a whole bunch of jam. I always make a small batch of jam and keep it in fridge, it will last me for a good couple of weeks or even a month. Hope you will try this out and let me know how it turns out for you..

How to Make Homemade Papaya Jam

  1. Take papaya puree and sugar in a pan, mix well.
  2. Heat on high heat till the mix gets thick.
  3. Once it is thick, turn off the heat, and add in lemon juice and mix well.
  4. Cool this down completely. Store this in a clean dry air tight container in fridge.
  5. Make sandwiches and enjoy..
