Should I read the Farseer trilogy first? ›

Cree I would definitely start with the Farseer trilogy. There are a lot of references to the past that, if you read the first trilogy, will be more powerful. Plus, I loved the first trilogy.

The start of the trilogy finds Fitz in his mid-thirties, living in a cottage with the wolf Nighteyes and his adopted son Hap. Visitors to his home include the Fool, who prompts him to recount memories of life away from society, as well as the minstrel Starling, who shares his bed on occasion.

Hobb then returns to Fitz's first-person narration in the Tawny Man trilogy. Next in chronology are the four novels of the Rain Wild chronicles and the Fitz and the Fool trilogy, which concludes the series.

The Farseeer Trilogy is a compelling action story peopled with distinctly drawn characters and enough descriptive prose to fully visualize an alternate world and its peoples. That alone would make it a solid read.

She finally reconciles with Fitz near the end of Fool's Fate. First by learning from others that he is alive, and then from Fitz himself. He sends gifts to her children and begins to help Chivalry with the care of their stable before Molly eventually admits her love for him. They wed.

Unbeknownst to Fitz, Chade accompanies him on the visit in the guise of Lady Thyme, who is infamous among Buckkeep Castle residents for being reclusive, ill-mannered, and foul-smelling.
