Modesto’s E&J; Gallo Co. was also ranked bigger than the next five wineries in the United States combined, the publication Wines & Vines reported. The publication’s rankings are based on a survey of wine storage capacity. With 330 million gallons of storage capacity and bottling 250,000 cases a day, Gallo is far ahead of No. 2 Seagram Wine Co. of New York, with 82 million gallons of capacity, magazine spokesman Larry Walker said. California produces about 90% of the nation’s wine.
