Additionally, sun exposure, bed tanning, and spray tanning should be avoided for 2 weeks before and after your laser hair removal appointment. Some oral medications, specifically antibiotics, as well as topical retinoids in the area being treated should be avoided for 2 weeks prior to your appointment as both make your skin sensitive to light. Let your Laser Technician know of any medications you are currently taking and your skin regimen to avoid unwanted side effects.

Feel free to gently exfoliate the area being treated 24-48 hours before your appointment, and shave and shower at least 24 hours prior to your laser hair removal, including for a Brazilian laser hair removal. We will provide wipes to wipe away any lotions and deodorant. Some patients will begin to see hair falling out and slower growth just after their first session, however, for most patients, they’ll begin seeing results in 4-6 sessions. At Aesthetica, we recommend 12 treatments for optimal results spread out 4-6 weeks apart. Our Laser Technicians recommend our patients the following after their Brazilian laser hair removal session:

• Apply the aloe vera soothing gel provided by our Medical Spa to cool the skin after your treatment
• Avoid exercising for the next few days, saunas, and hot showers or baths
• Use a gentle, mild soap to wash the area treated
• Gently exfoliate the treated area to avoid ingrown hairs and to remove dead skin cells
• Avoid waxing and plucking the area
• Avoid swimming or coming in contact with chlorine
• Don’t expose the treated area to the sun
