Because after donning festive, sometimes over-the-top holiday nail looks, the prospect of a clean slate and new creative energy is thrilling.
The 5 Biggest Spring 2024 Nail Trends We Saw at New York Fashion Week
"It's so exciting to embark on a new year of trends because it's a complete mindset and vibe reset," says Olivia Van Iderstine, vice president of content and creative at Olive & June. "It encourages us to bring out colors we haven't used before, experiment with nail art and textures, and embrace a new season."

Tara Hayes is a nail artist in New York City who studied under celebrity manicurist Julie Kandalec.
To help get you inspired, here you'll find ten expert-backed nail trends that will be everywhere in 2024.
1. Baby Blues
"The color of 2024 for manis is for sure blue," says Van Iderstine. "Particularly in the beginning of the year and through Spring, we'll see lots of soft, muted pale blues."
"From silver chrome inspired by Beyonce’s Renaissance tour all the way to Hailey Bieber’s glazed donut nails — chrome is here to stay," says nail artist Tara Hayes. However, we'll see chrome in a wider range of colors. "Not only are there many colors for chrome, there are different types of chrome," she explains. "Most of us know about the traditional powder chrome. But as technology continues to advance, nail color trends may include even more futuristic metallic shades."
For example, the pro artist line Johen carries Chrome Ink, a liquid chrome that comes in bold shades like aqua, emerald, and hot pink. To DIY, you can try nail lacquers with a chrome finish, chrome powders, or chrome press-ons.
Velvet nails, achieved via magnetic nail polish, are especially popular in the fall and winter as they embody cozy vibes. But as we head into the warmer months, Van Iderstine says we'll see "velvet finishes on fresh new spring colors."
"Color trends for next year are more bold and vibrant," says Hayes. "It's about playful self-expression instead of your traditional one solid color." Picture bright neons, animated jewel tones, and funky color combos.
Lip gloss nails dominated last spring and summer, and we don't see them going away anytime soon. But instead of baby pinks, Van Iderstine anticipates a rise in the popularity of semi-sheer jelly fruity shades. Think: reds, oranges, and purples.
In alignment with the continued embrace of metallic finishes, Haye expects to see an uptick in the use of foils. She points to companies like Daily Charme, which carry a wide range of foils in solid colors like red, blue, and purple, along with traditional gold and silver.
Pantone's 2024 Color of the Year is Peach Fuzz — a warm, romantic, and modern peach. It's a pastel with a bit more depth than we're used to seeing. Van Iderstine expects to see more creamy pastels like greens and pinks take hold as we move through winter and spring.
American Manicures Are a Softer Take on the Ever-Classic French
9. 3D Art
"The 3D technique involves raised designs on the nails using a variety of materials like acrylic, gel, or resin," says Haye. "Highly skilled artists use tools and materials that add depth and uniqueness to the nail design."
For those who want the metallic look but aren't ready to try out chrome, velvet polish, or foils, Haye expects to see more people turn to finely milled glitter polishes. They make a high-shimmer statement with minimal effort. "The beauty of glitter lies in its ability to transform any nail look from beautiful to glamorous," says Haye. "If you’re in search of a glamorous but subtle nail design, then a fine glitter is the way to go. Fine glitter provides a soft shimmer and enhances any look."
From latte nails to bubble bath nails, ultra minimalist manicures are totally in for 2024. Lip gloss nails—which entails a clear glossy coat of polish over natural nails—perfectly epitomize this nail trend.
Think slim neon French tips on neutral nails and the crisp freshness of the Baby Boomer manicure, which makes its triumphant return in 2024. Press-on nails are also becoming more prevalent—great news for lazy nail-art lovers or last-minute manicures that can be done en route to your destination.
Bright, saturated shades will have their place in 2024, each with a pop-art infusion that makes the palette feel fresh. Goldstein expects a want of bold primary colors like cobalt blue, mustard yellow, and scarlet red, while Choi predicts vibrant wildflower hues like fuchsias and oranges.
Los Angeles-based Celebrity Nail Artist, Queenie Nguyen predicts, “ombré nails with a white chrome topping” to be on trend for 2024. “The chrome finish will add a unique touch to the classic ombré nails,” she adds.
As of 2024, the nail trend in Korea is all about simplicity and elegance. Many people are opting for minimalist designs that feature simple lines, geometric shapes, and muted colors. This trend is all about creating a sophisticated and understated look that is perfect for any occasion.
One of the most talked-about nail trends for 2024 is the chrome manicure. This trend involves applying chrome finishes to the nails, giving them a futuristic and reflective appearance. The chrome trend is versatile and can be incorporated into various nail art designs, from geometric patterns to ombre effects.
According to our trio of manicurist sources, the almond-shaped manicure is the must-have nail look to covet this year. For those new to the nail shape, it features narrow sides and a rounded tip with a subtle point. It's a favorite among fans of lengthening enhancements such as acrylics or gel extensions.
Simply apply a base colour, dab eyeshadow in the centre of the nail, blend it outwards, and finish with a top coat. For those who prefer a more neutral aesthetic, there's the trend's softer sibling: 'blush' nails.
In a representative survey, the German Paint Institute found that men generally likeblue , but also likegray , black and brown . Both sexes like green about equally, while women are more likely to like red ,yellow ,beige and orange .
This spring, we'll still be riding that glossy wave. "The spring pedicure trend is pastel glazed colors, especially lavender and yellow," Tokyo says. These shades are perfect for adding a gentle pop of color without overdoing it.
This month is all about embracing the winter season and its sleek elegance. Try a cool-toned gray or silver shade to create a modern andsophisticated manicure. Alternatively, go for a frosty blue or icy mint green hue to capture the crispness of the season.
From the sharp and bold stiletto and coffin shapes to the elegant almond and deep square silhouettes, elongated nails are taking center stage. If you're looking to add a touch of sophistication and edginess to your nail game, look no further than the stiletto nail shape.
Although Hoseok is the first member to publicly sport nail polish, he isn't the only one who has tried to bend gender norms. In the past, V aka Kim Taehyung and Jimin have made headlines for their gender-neutral outfits and accessories.
What is a Russian manicure? For the uninitiated, a Russian manicure is a dry manicure, so no soaking in water is required. The technique consists of very precise cuticle work, often involving a nail drill and other special equipment to clean and remove excess skin around the nail bed.
